Is there really a difference between Ireland and England? Aren’t they basically the same thing, like Nebraska and Kansas? Friendly neighbors with everything in common?

ire_eng_love

Noooooo, we’re just kidding. We know Ireland and England are entirely different. One has leprechauns and the other has soccer hooligans. But this summer, they both will have one thing in common…MOUSTACHETTE!

That’s right all you Irish-Englanders, come in from the rain for a few minutes and catch MOUSTACHETTE at the International Film Festival Ireland in Clonmel and then at the Raindance Film Festival in a place called “London” (which may be smaller than Clonmel, we can’t find it on a map).

The IFFI will happen the week of September 4th thru 11th in a “magical” chateau that the Irish call a “house.” Apparently, everyone is really rich in Ireland. The festival also has large, phallic trophies which would be AMAZING to win.

3917533786_431c6d24e9_o

Raindance will take place the week of September 28th thru October 10th in the provincial township of London. We’re particularly excited about Raindance because this guy was on the judges’ panel last year…

feature-large

Between now and September we’ll have more info on the festivals, screening times and locations, and maybe some Stasche-tastic games for people in the area (Who will be the first to put up a Stasche in Picadilly Circus??). Let us know if you’ll be around and want to take part in the festivities.

Tally-ho, it’s off to England and Ireland we go!

“Van egy szép folt a haj a felső ajak!”…Hungarian for: “You have a beautiful Moustache!”

picture-1

Hello, Moustachette. Sorry for the absence. We’ve been holed up with the world’s most influential minds in an ultra-exclusive, undisclosed location trying to figure out how to release Moustachette to the world. We poured over distributors’ convoluted profit-sharing arrangements (I must say, Mr Weinstein, you are a shrewd cat.). We set up a pros/cons breakdown for the too-good-to-be-true studio deals rolling off the fax machines (Tom Cruise thought we were playing charades. Who invites Jerry Maguire to a 2 month brainstorming session?!). And we examined all the not-for-profit, cause-based possibilities (Bono sincerely had some good ideas…until he started touching our house pets inappropriately. I mean, we know you’re a big rock star, dude. But the ferret? Did you have to get all weird with the ferret?). And after all that time and money…we had nothing. Nothing, that is, until we went to the Vail Film Festival.

picture-2

We got off the horn with Zach Braff and decided to rendezvous for the Moustachette screening in Vail. Over some apres ski cocktails, we explained our predicament to Mr Scrubs. He seemed concerned, but that guy has one of the foulest mouths of any moderately successful television actor we know and it’s sometimes hard to understand what he’s talking about. You’ve never heard someone use the C-word so many times in conversation; whether you’re talking about dog racing, the weekend’s expected snowfall, or how to release a short film…it’s all “C-this” and “C-that.” Crazy. He’s also very handsy in person. You have to constantly have your mitts guarding the beans around that SOB. And a partier, too. Once saw him force a hooker to scorch her back on a fireplace so he could freebase some black tar heroin off her tramp-stamp. Hilarious!

braffsororitygirlsjpg

We digress…

Between the litany of caustics spewing from his mouth, Zach did give us an epiphany. “Headbands,” he said. “What? Like what the girls on The Hills wear?” we wondered. “No, you c—s!” he blasted. “Headbands. Like sweatbands. Rad headbands. Radbands.” And it was then, it all made sense. Headbands.

Moustachette will be released this summer and it will involve headbands. Rad headbands. It will be released online. Everyone, everywhere (even Hungary) will be able to see it. Between now and then, stay tuned. There are some goodies up our sleeves. Not unlike these goodies from Hungary…

A few months back, our dear friend, Apple Will, went down with a particularly nasty case of the Will Flu (the “Wu”) and referenced his 103º fever for ideas on how to improve the world and/or humanity. Five intense hours later - 1 in Final cut, 4 chatting to a cute Cuban/Asian girl (a “Cusian”) on Bebo - he delivered his masterpiece…a Moustachette/Brokeback Mountain trailer mash-up dripping with innuendo and tension of the S-kind. Wipe a tear from the eye, be still our beating hearts.

brokebackmountainstasche

We cheered, shouting: “Post that genius to the interwebs!!” and triumphantly carried Apple Will on our shoulders to the nearest corporate koi pond. There, Producer Paul delivered a sentimental eulogy best summarized with: “Apple Will, you are like these fish - beautiful, strong, orange and white.” We all clapped.

koi-pond-at-ca-state-ujpg

But, unfortunately and quite rudely, Apple Will disappeared that night (we told him time and again Tijuana gangs aren’t “cool”) and took with him the location of the trailer.

We waited, worried; sure Apple Will was stuffed in the back of a windowless, 1982 Chevy Astrovan. But the ransom demand never surfaced. There were rumors of ditches, shallow graves, and forced labor in one of those seedy bars on Tijuana’s “fancier” side. No one knew what became of Will or, more importantly, the trailer. We braced for the worst. Until this weekend…

TEXT TO MOUSTACHETTE (12/19 2:37am) - They’re closing in. There isn’t much time. Tell the world my story. -AW

RESPONSE (12/19 2:41am) - Apple Will? How’s it going?! Sorry 2 hear bout ur problems. U know where that trailer is?

TEXT TO MOUSTACHETTE (12/19 2:52am) - What??? I need help.

RESPONSE (12/19 2:55am) - Totally. But we rilly nd that trailer.

TEXT TO MOUSTACHETTE (12/19 2:58) -  http://www.vimeo.com/8270706 assholes

RESPONSE (12/19 3:02) - Ummmmm, password?

Nothing. Apple Will fell off the reservation…again. Where is the password? Where is Apple Will? The only clue we have is that he’s slated to co-host the thirtysevenclick podcast CHRISTMAS SPECIAL this Friday.

Maybe he’ll bring the password…

The Great Moustachette Sticker Contest 2009 has finally come to an end! It has been a wild ride with thousands of stickers staching around the word in over 15 countries. The pics we received are both amazing and disturbing. They’ve turned up everywhere from topless bars on Hollywood Blvd to the faces of sad school children in Taiwan.

porn_stache_001sad_stache_001

There have been staches turning up on pets, urinals, streets signs, grocery store shelves, subways and a surprising amount of genitals…

But finally, the time has come to announce the winner.

For those loyal fans of Moustachette, this will not come as a surprise. Due to her amazing videos and effort put toward the contest, Elize Viola is the winner!!!!! If you haven’t already, check out her videos! They are super-rad and really well done. Elize has a really cool prize headed her way that we will let everyone in on when it arrives.

Moustachette is going strong with several Midwest screenings under its belt and it’s time to take the coasts! This weekend Moustachette can be seen in New York at the Queens International Film Festival and in Los Angeles at the Bel Air Film Festival. We are working hard with several other festivals around the world to try and get Moustachette to everyone who wants to see it. So, stop watching Twilight and come out and support the stache!

To everyone who participated in the Great Moustachette Sticker Contest…THANK YOU! You have shared the power of the Stasche with the world. But don’t stop now! There are more contests, super fun videos, secret home drop-ins, and of course screenings coming in the near future. Tell us where you want to see the film!

OMG! OMG! OMG! How in the world are we going to sleep tonight? Less than 24 hours until the big Moustachette screening at the Illinois International Film Festival and the penguins are all aflutter w/ excitement. The film is playing between 4:30p and 6:30p, right after the Angelina Jolie documentary and right before the horror film from Brazil. If you have any questions, call Paul on his cellie: 858-888-STSH. He’ll be waiting with directions, free passes, pizza pockets, and tons of reach-a-peach.

We’re also going to have a little premiere party for Chicago’s south side on Tuesday, Oct 27. Contrary to what many have said, this is not at Reggie’s house, but at his Rock Club. Again, Moustachette party on Tuesday is at Reggie’s ROCK CLUB…not his house. Three good bands, one awesome short film, and one sexy MC. Plus, penguins…maybe.

picture-3

On November 13 in Los Angeles, Moustachette will be part of a “film fashion themed red carpet gala” at the Bel Air Film Festival. (We simply have NO IDEA what to wear.) The film’s Saturday screening (Nov 14, directions and info on the BAFF website) will likely be sometime in the afternoon at a theatre on UCLA. We’ll have exact details and times as we get closer to the festival. The Saturday screening will likely have a lot of cast and crew from the film, so bring your polaroid if you want a chance at Moustachette immortality with Gina Clark or Jake Vee.

Now, onto the important stuff…The Great Moustachette Sticker Contest ‘09! We’ve been blown away by the level of Staschtivity over the last couple of months. Some great, most amazing, all good. For all of you who haven’t uploaded your pictures to flickr and tagged with “moustachette” and “GMSC09,” you have until Tuesday. While you’re at it, throw your pics up on Facebook as well. Paul will announce the winner immediately before Moustachette screens at Reggie’s. For those of you who won’t be able to make it that night, we’ll be sure to post the winner on this here blog.

That is all for now. We’re super excited and hope that everyone who comes tomorrow and to Reggie’s on Tuesday will be sure to take a bunch of pictures and share them with the Moustachette community. Special kudos to anyone who gets a picture with Paul and a bright pink Moustachette.

Viva la penguin!

Patrick vs The Bee from MOUSTACHETTE MOVIE on Vimeo.

MOUSTACHETTE is playing at the Illinois International Film Festival! Good work Team Chicago on getting the word out to the festival programmers! The film is slated to run between 4:30pm and 6:30pm on the evening of Friday, October 23rd. All travel info, theatre location, and schedule can be found on the festival’s website. Let us know if you plan on coming! We can’t wait!

We’re working hard to get the film into festivals far and wide. DVDs went out to 6 festivals in France and Italy over the weekend (thanks Jessica and Cinzia for emailing the festival programmers!) and we hope the film gets selected to screen. Continue to let us know where you’d like to see the film. Email your local film fest and request MOUSTACHETTE. Paint a moustachette on your chest and run around behind local news crews. We’re doing everything possible on our end to bring MOUSTACHETTE to a festival near you.

We’re loving all the pictures and videos on Flickr for the Great Moustachette Sticker Contest 09! We just received another shipment of stickers and will happily mail more to those who want them. Find out all the info on the contest here. The contest will end on October 23rd. We’ll announce a winner on the night of the Illinois International Film Festival screening. Between now and then, GET OUT THERE! Stache your town! Make your world more beautiful with little pink moustachettes! Just look at the amazing artwork coming out of Montreal and Ottawa.

Enjoy the behind-the-scenes video. Post it on your blog and social networks. Share it with the world! Viva la Penguin!

A sticker here, a sticker there. If you haven’t joined the Great Moustachette Sticker Contest of 2009, here’s your last chance to make history…or at least Stasche your town in pink stashetastic goodness. We have a few stickers left and once those have all found a home, we’ll be able to declare a winner - “The Grand Master Flash of the Stashe” - and release a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Moustachette (possibly featuring someone who’s name rhymes with “pump,” “lump,” and “rump”). Early odds for a favorite go to this piece of magic out of Montreal:

elizeviola, you had us from “hello.”

All the info on the contest can be found here, and don’t forget to overlook the super official instructions below.

Remember to practice safe Moustachetting and moving objects are worth bonus points.

Alright, everybody! Two thousand official Moustachette stickers need a home. Roughly 5 inches by 2 inches (that’s 13cm by 5cm for those of you on the metric system), these little babies are pretty in pink and ready for your creativity!

In fact, that’s what this contest is all about – YOUR creativity. Get out there in your community and “Moustachette” the funniest and craziest thing you can find. Snap a photo. Email it to us (info@moustachette.com)…or better yet, post it to Flickr with the tags “moustachette” and/or “GMSC09.” We’ll post your pics on Moustachette.com and choose our favorites. The winners will receive secret links to behind-the-scenes videos of Patrick, Pete, and Ryan on the set of Moustachette and a free ticket to an upcoming screening of Moustachette.

So, you’re probably asking yourself: “How do I get my hands on these amazing Moustachette stickers I’ve been hearing so much about? And how much will they cost? $100? $200?” Good news dear friends, they’re…FREE! That’s right, FREE! ShamWow! We’ll even pay the shipping… but there is a catch. We’d love your help spreading the word of Moustachette and this is what we ask of you:

1.  Friend and post a photo of yourself with your best homemade Moustachette on the film’s Myspace and/or Facebook pages.

2.  Write your local film festival telling them that you really want to see Moustachette and hope that they will be screening it at their event. Remember to be nice and tell them you and your friends are really excited to see the film.

3.  Check out thirtysevenclick’s podcast on itunes and leave a comment and/or review.

Once you’ve succeeded in your mission, send an email to info@moustachette.com with your name, address, favorite pick-up line, an explanation of what you did and we’ll send you some stickers. Really, that’s it. You can do it on the bus to summer school (or winter school if you live south of the equator) and your stickers will be on the way before you can say “Viva la penguin!”

Remember to practice safe Moustachetteing and real friends encourage friends to Moustachette drunk.

Casper, Eugene, Obamas, and Elizabeth

On their whirlwind tour through Europe with the Obamas for the G-20 Summit, Casper and Eugene spent some time today in the presence of the Queen. Eugene bashfully and politely complimented the Queen, while Casper seemed bored and unimpressed by the ornate Buckingham Palace. The group listened patiently as Casper explained his theories on gold lamme and the struggles of the contemporary artist. Casper then sighed plaintively as the discussion shifted to the economy and the importance of the relationship between the two nations.

Happy April 1!
